25 Days of JOY

Good Morning!

I wanted to make our family an advent calendar and include fun little daily activities in it to do leading up to Christmas Day.  I wasn't sure if candy and an activity tag would all fit in the muffin tin calendar I originally intended on making (I'm still going to make one as a visual countdown for my kids) so I got an idea to use our coffee tin this morning.  I will simply write down activities on tags and pull one out each day.  These will include things like make hot chocolate, decorate the tree, bake cookies, read the Christmas Story, etc.  My boy is at the age (almost 4- next month) where I want to start our own family traditions.

First Start with this: (if you are addicted to coffee like I am, this shouldn't be a problem :))

Cover coffee tin in paper of your choice and decorate as desired:

One of the many things I love about Close To My Heart is they completely make the process of matching papers so much easier!  Their papers are so beautiful too and they have matching embellishments. For a busy mom like myself it makes it quick, easy and fun to make creations!

Halloween Leftovers!

Hello crafty friends!

I had some leftovers from my wreath I blogged about yesterday.  These are my easy peasy creations I made~ It seriously took me about 1 minute to throw these together!! 

First up:  Black Flowers and Purple Kitty with Bats!

Cute huh?  Seriously like 30 secs and it's cute on my table.  I was thinking of bringing this to work to set on my desk....

How's this for a cute bathroom halloween decoration?  My bathroom is purple too! :)  Again, like 30 seconds to throw together and I love the spider on top :)

DIY Halloween Wreath!

Okay, so I admit, I've been on a youtube/pinteresting addiction lately!  Who isn't!?  There are soooo many cute things out there to make!  I'm linking this up to Crazy Mama! AND The Dedicated House.

We went to my niece's 5th birthday party in the cities this weekend and you know what CITIES mean for this country girl....Michaels AND Joann!  (Yes, I'm a freak) Anyways, I wanted to make a Halloween wreath that my family could use for years to come.  I found a few things that sparked my interest....things I thought would never go out of 'style' for halloween.  Black Flowers, Skeletons, Pumpkins...

First start with this:

I could have spray painted it black but spray paint was $7 at Michaels so I opted for the $2 black yarn that was in the clearance bin.  Yes, it was time consuming but totally worth the $5 in savings- plus the styrofoam won't show.  Wrap yarn around the wreath- this took me a good hour but I did it while watching Bones.  It got me in the spooooooky mood....haha:

It doesn't have to be 'perfect' because the flowers, etc will cover it.

The 'STASH' of goodies I intend to use: (black flowers, pumpkins, spiders, skeletons.)  Everything was about $7.

Next grab your flowers and start plugging them in....figure out where you want them.  My flowers are black with a metallic purple and silver.  I know the picture quality is great stinks - Please click on the imagine to view them better.  This is what mine looked like when completed- I used a hot glue gun for the skeletons, pumpkins and spider:

Well, this is my SPOOKY wreath!  It was about $15 to make this- which I think beats the $29.99 that I was seeing in stores, plus it's homemade :)  We'll have this for years!  The frame I made (see THIS POST) is now on the wall and this hangs on our door!  Hope you like it!  What have you made?  Leave me a comment!  I'd love to check it out :)  Come back tomorrow to see what I did with my leftovers!  Yes!  I had leftovers!!!

DIY 'Spooky' Halloween Frame- Super Duper Cheap!

Hey crafty friends!

This week, I didn't create a card or scrapbooking page, rather I created a DIY spooky halloween frame for my door!  I've been blogging and came across soooo many cute ideas!  Infact, I've linked this project up to Here Comes the Sun. You should check out all the cute ideas that have been linked up!!

I had this old frame that I found in my hope chest weeks ago and wanted to do something with it but the glass was missing (why I kept it, I have no idea):

So I gather some supplies that I had on hand already- Cotton Balls, a white tshirt, hot glue gun, Tulle Ribbon and regular ribbon.  I purchased some spiders at target for $1.  Actually, my son threw them in the cart- he's 3.  He thought they were pretty cool...and they are.  So, I put them on the project :)  Here are my supplies:

I was hoping the tshirt would give the project sort of a mummy effect.  To be honest, I wasn't sure what I was going to do so I just grabbed a bunch of stuff.

This is how it turned out:

Here it is hanging on the wall but I wanted it on the door so I dug out my Christmas Wreath hanger:



Spooky! AND super duper easy and cheap to make!  $1 and it was completed while I made supper!  That's my kind of project!!

Cut It Up #3- Think Pink

Hey crafty blogger friends!

This week at CUT IT UP there is a challenge to honor breast cancer awareness. Here are the rules to play along:  must include a Die-cut somewhere on your project and the project can be a card, layout, 3-D item, altered item, etc. Simple Enough right!?!

My card:

I definitely felt out of my element making this card.  No stamps were used!  Instead I used Plantin Schoolbook and Accent Essentials circut cardridges for the die cuts.  Thanks for checking out my card! 



World Card Making Day

Hello there!  Just thought I'd share a card with you for World Card Making Day!  I found my inspiration at Jen Tapler Designs. Check it out HERE! 

I didn't quite follow everything about the sketch but did to my liking.  I love the flirtly paperpack and all the bright colors!  I also love the dimensional elements.  I only used one stamp on this card!  Ridiculously easy!

Hopefully you were able to make a card today and were able to enjoy the fall day.  My autumn scentsy has been warming, put out gourds and made some fall trail mix...it was a perfect fall day with my family!
