Kitchen Remodel

Hello scrappy friends!

I don't have anything scrappy to share but I do have some before and after pictures of our kitchen remodel :)

Here are the before pics:

This here was the 'problem' counter top.  We eliminated that chunk that stuck out and boy did it make a difference!  Chuck and I can both stand in the kitchen with the fridge door open now :)

This is the beast of the dishwasher we've been using.  It's a portable and our friend let us use it for about 3 years.  I'm so thankful we had it!!  Especially with 2 kids!  Even though not the prettiest, it really made our lives so much easier and I'm so thankful for that!  I'll never forget the day we got it....We couldn't afford a new dishwasher at the time only because we knew it would turn into so much more: countertops, sink, etc.  It all adds up.

Here are the after pics:

We added a top cupboard to the right.

To the left of these pictures is where the 'beast' was.  We added 3 cupboards to that spot- 2 on the bottom and 1 on top and of course added a counter top.  It's a lot more practical for us.  I didn't take a picture of it because that is where the tools, etc are sitting right now.

I love our new kitchen space and don't feel so crowded in it.  Next up is painting- I've picked a color called 'potato skin' - it's neutral brown.  We are painting the kitchen/dining room and living room this color.  After this project though I'm ready for a little break so painting probably won't start for a couple of weeks.

Tonight while the new dishwasher was running, I didn't have to turn up the TV 10 notches! lol  It's so quiet!

We budgeted $2,500 for this mini remodel and actually came out less than that....$2,100.

Stop back tomorrow to see a new kitchen decor item I created.  I was inspired by someone that has such beautiful work and that "awww's " me every time I see her creations!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great night~
Kim :)

  2. Your kitchen looks great! I waited 38 years for a kitchen remodel. My kitchen had not had an update since the day our house was built in 1948. I guess I don't have to tell you that I hated my kitchen...Our kitchen is not my dream kitchen. It's a budget kitchen but after some remodeling it's definitely an improvement and I appreciate so much that we were able to make some changes after waiting so long. Enjoy your "new" kitchen.

  5. You did a great job with bringing the black appliances in and making the design work. Getting tired of seeing stainless appliances everywhere, and white is so boring.

  7. The new color of your kitchen makes the room very warm and inviting. You made use of what space you had. You've got a very efficient kitchen in there! I hope you can maintain your kitchen's cleanliness, I'm having a hard time keeping mine clean too. Haha! Congratulations on your brand new kitchen!

  8. Wow! That was a very nice kitchen renovation! The new kitchen is very accommodating and it invites me to cook a lot of good food. Whew! If only I can cook. Haha! I hope you keep the beauty of this kitchen with constant maintenance, especially with the cooking materials that you have. :)

  9. It really looks more spacious now! I also like the new granite countertops that you are using. It blends better than the old one, and adds another color into your kitchen.
